Our hiking hotel in the foothills of the Alps is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful, pristine nature. The Spitzingsee on our doorstep is one of these pearls - and it is the most beautiful. The Alps begin right on the shores of the lake with the first chain of Alpine summits.
Do you love hiking? We will show you a true paradise: Pack some food in your rucksack and allow yourself plenty of time for a leisurely hike. At the end of the mountain journey, you will be rewarded with a view over one the most beautiful regions in the Bavarian Alps. Two lakes, the Schliersee and the Spitzingsee, as well as green meadows and golden fields, lie at your feet. These fantastic impressions are best enjoyed with your family or friends.
There is also no lack of climbable mountains in the area: Schinder, Rotwand, Brecherspitz or Hochmiesing - it's your choice. Alongside hiking, you can also explore the mountainous region by mountain bike, on a Nordic walk or from the comfort of a train.
Or make an excursion to the Tegernsee, one of the most beautifully situated lakes. With so many lakes on hand, in the perfect Bavarian summers there is almost nothing left to do but to go swimming. A true mountain lake is really rather different from a swimming pool!
At the end of the summer, you can experience a piece of the real Bavaria with us: Throughout September, the cattle are brought from the mountain pastures back to the valley in the transhumance. The animals being led down to the flat country is an impressive sight. The exact timing of this is heavily weather-dependent and is usually spontaneous. If the farmers have had a good year and nothing bad has happened to the cattle, the cows will be festively decorated for the transhumance. But on 30th September the transhumance period is truly over. The farmer's Alpine lodge goes into hibernation.
In winter, the mountainous landscape on the Spitzingsee is transformed into a glistening wonderland. The best winter sports opportunities await both Alpine and cross-country skiers. There is a good selection of skiing areas in the immediate vicinity of the hotel or within easy reach. Whether you want to practice your parallel turn in the deep snow or ski athletically down a black piste, you will find the right piste for every ability level here. Take a break in one of the rustic huts and enjoy the beautiful winter sun over a refreshing Almdudler.
